November 2004

This month has been so much fun watching Kyla grow and develop new capabilities.

Kyla has crept into the 95th percentile weighing in at 14 ½ pounds. Don’t worry, we’ve been told that you can’t over feed a breastfed baby. I was also a really big baby, so perhaps this is a sign that she’ll grow tall. I just hope that she doesn’t inherit Daddy’s gigantic feet.

Kyla has also discovered her voice and loves to hear it, especially when you repeat her sounds back to her. When we get her going she’ll make vowel noises with an occasional hard G, and when she’s really happy she’ll squeal loud enough to wake Becky up from downstairs (on the rare morning she gets to sleep in).

In many ways she’s become a little easier on us. The car rides are peaceful more often than not, though she’ll still get into moods where she makes us stop every few minutes. She sleeps the majority of the night, waking mostly for some food and then falling back to sleep. The smiles that were once very rare and hard to capture with a camera now are effortless to coerce if she’s in a reasonable mood.

Parenthood is wonderfully dynamic. I can’t wait to see what my little girl does next!
