Security Sibling

Whenever Blake and I are alone together and he gets upset about something, he'll say, "want Mommy, Kyla." A toddler calling for his mother is what I'd expect, but his sister?

Growing up with an older sibling isn't something that Becky or I can really relate to since we are both eldest children (and in my case the eldest by at least nine years). From the day he came home, Blake has had to share the spotlight with someone else, which has had its pros and cons. The two of them have had plenty of conflicts, but overall Kyla has been a big help to him and he obviously adores her.

I might conclude that he wants Kyla when he's upset because he's just used to her and Becky being a package deal, but she goes to school three days a week and usually spends the night with Grandma on Saturdays, so it isn't like he doesn't get time without her.

Kyla is simply a major part of his life who holds a special place in his heart. I'm sure the two of them will remain close for the rest of their lives.
