Dance Recital

StompingAbout nine months ago we finally gave into Kyla's begging and signed her up for dance lessons. In her class she learned ballet and tap dancing and has thoroughly enjoyed it.

On June 6th she had her first recital. For weeks Kyla and her seven buddies practiced tapping along to "Mama, I'm a Big Girl Now" from the musical Hair.

It turned into a big event, all of her Grandmas were there, as well as Grandpa Doug, Great Grandma Dot, Aunt Lexie, Leslie, Asher, and Rylee (and of course her parents). Becky was backstage as the official mom in charge of her class. It wasn't easy keeping eight four-year-olds in makeup and tap shoes quiet and composed while the other performances were going on, but at least she was prepared with activities to keep them occupied.

Flowers for me?Kyla performed very well for her first time in front of a big crowd and danced her little heart out. After she was done she was given a virtual garden of flowers by her fans and we all went back to our house to celebrate.

I think Kyla's found an activity that she really likes and I'll be curious to see how long she chooses to stick to it.
